2014 - A Quarter Quell!

So last week (Week 13) saw the quarter way through the year point, would you believe it? We're now officially into the second quarter of the year and time is flying by so fast. I wanted to take a minute to update you on some of my "2014 goals" and how they're going so far.

Weight Loss - well the less said about that the better at the moment I think. However I have officially started trying again this week, with the launch of Weight Loss Wednesday over on a sister blog, Twice the Mum (sorry, I swear I'll stop plugging it soon!).
Health and Fitness - well as yet, this is sort of the same as the diet thing. I haven't done anything so far but I want to. I'm hoping to go swimming this coming week. Maybe even tomorrow! I have however managed to quit smoking. Though I'm sometimes guilty of having the odd one here and there, I don't buy them and I certainly wouldn't class myself as a smoker any more.
Savings - I started a silly savings plan at the beginning of the year, where each week I added the amount of £1's that it was weeks. So for example on week 1 I added £1 to my savings, on week 2 I added £2. Now at week 14 (having added my £14) I'm up to £105 plus 9p interest! It feels great to having a growing savings account, even if its just silly amounts. I know that by the time it rolls around to Christmas, saving £52 a week will be much harder, but I'm still going to try!
Debt Management - I haven't gone too much into this but I'm definitely on top of it all and improving it too. Hopefully by the end of this year I'll be in a much better financial situation.
Blog - I'm pretty pleased with the work I've done on my blog in just 3 short months. I've gone from 53 followers to a massive 479 (at time of posting this) and I'm far more active. I try to post pretty much every day, though that's not always possible. However I'm definitely posting 4-5 times a week which is great! I also attended a blog meet (which was a goal) and I'm planning my own (with Amy)!
Family - I went through a real clingy phase with the kids but I'm trying to get past it. I think the fact I'm not as bad about it, is definitely helping the kids be less clingy too. Also, while I'm not planning a family holiday to Rome like I had set a goal for, instead we're planning a trip to Florida in 2015 which I'm so excited about!
Friends - my goal was to make sure I arranged an event every month, in order to see friends. For the most part this is super easy as someone's birthday seems to fall every month. However January we had nothing to celebrate so instead we had a games night. February we had a Valentine's Murder Mystery and also a second games night. March saw Amy's birthday Murder Mystery (which I really must blog about) and Chris' birthday games night! April has just started and although we were originally going to have another games night for International Tabletop Day (we cancelled it last minute), we have an Easter Murder Mystery this coming week.
House - well we've not officially done any more decorating, but we have got the odd thing here and there done. My brother moves out this month and with that we plan to decorate the dining room and hallway (tenuously connected to my brother moving out I know).
Entertainment - I set a challenge to watch a movie a week and read a book a month. While I wouldn't say its been strictly one movie a week, I have watched 16 movies so far this year, which pretty much works out as one a week. I know over Easter Holiday we're likely to watch a lot though. As far as reading, I'm pretty pleased with myself. I've managed one book per month (I know it doesn't sound a lot but I managed about 3 books in the whole of last year, so this is a step up) and I've started 2 that are currently unfinished (my bad). Still I'm on target for both!
Creativity and Career - putting these both together as there isn't really much update on either. I wanted to work more on a novel I started, but I haven't. I did buy a course for writing a children's book but as yet I haven't got very far with it. As for career, I'm still hanging in at my job for now and its not too bad at the moment. I would still love to find a way to go back to working from home though.

Now I'm going to admit, that this originally started off as my "Monday Round-Up" post. However when I realised how long it was getting, I decided to make it a separate post all together. I'm sorry for the lack of pictures but it would just seem a little forced to shove some in there. This is my First Quarter update!

  1. Jesus, I can't believe we're a quarter of the way through the year already! That seems insane! When you write it down like that it does look like you've done a lot already!
