My new camera and 14/52

Once again I have decided to combine my 52 Project, alongside another blog topic! This week its because the two are connected. Warning: Photograph heavy!!

On Friday, my new camera arrived in the post! By new, I do want to just point out that I bought it second hand from Ebay, but its still new to me! The camera is a Nikon D3100 and I did a lot of research before finally deciding to purchase it. This camera was also a bargain, complete with case and tripod too. As soon as I knew I'd placed the winning bid, I also bought myself a book from Amazon so I'd know how to use it (or at least attempt to learn).

Quite ironically, when you buy a new camera, you can't take a picture of it with the actual camera. As such this is the picture I took with my phone and uploaded to Instagram. It really is a beautiful camera and as I've never owned a DSLR before, it feels quite strange. However yesterday I took a lot of pictures to try and get used to it (all just on auto settings). When the kids came home it was really nice to mess about taking pictures of them (and of course letting them try... under careful supervision).

They aren't perfect by any means and as I said before, they are all just using the automatic option. The ones of Lily are definitely nicer than the ones of Megan, though I think Lily's just still at that age where any photo is a nice photo.

I'm really looking forward to using my camera some more, as well as learning how to use it properly. The girls and I are going to the park today so I'm sure I'll be taking it with me to practice some more.

  1. I'm so glad you got one! A good camera makes such a difference to blogging! I love mine so much and when I look back at my old photos I can't believe I went so long without it. Although now I'm take it everywhere with my and I'm one of those annoying people who has to photograph everything! But I don't care haha
