Week 6 - Monday Round-up

So yet another week of this year has passed. While it seems fast in some ways, giving it a number (i.e. Week 6) also makes me realise we're not as far into the year as it sometimes seems. This week has been fairly uneventful for the most part, though its had some good moments.

Monday I went to the hospital with one of my best friends, Nat. I'd offered to hold her hand several months back and so when the day finally came, I picked her up from work, we headed to JTF to do some time wasting and then on to the hospital for her appointment at 4.15pm. We weren't there very long and it was over and done with in minutes. Afterwards I drove her home, stopped for a cup of tea and then headed home.

Tuesday and Wednesday were both full of work and nothing much else. The weather was pretty foul both days and isn't it always the way that it rains (or rains more) at exactly the time you have to collect the kids from school? Megan and Lily had homework to be handed in Wednesday and so we spent Tuesday night baking Koulourakia (Greek biscuits) for Megan and finishing building Lily's Lego house. After having Lily's party venue booked for a few weeks now, we finally got off our butts and wrote Lily's party invitations this week. We managed to get them all handed out Wednesday after school. Wednesday night I discovered that Lincoln Odeon was actually going to have a "Frozen Sing-a-long" showing and arranged with Rhiannon to go on Saturday morning.

Thursday again was work, followed by more work again in the evening (I really don't know why I offer to do overtime, I hate it!). The kids had dinner at mum's but my brother brought them home. We all arrived back at the house at the same time which was nice. In other, not at all important news, a KFC opened up in Gainsborough on Thursday (woohoo!!!!). I've yet to eat there mind you, which is probably no bad thing!

I was so glad for Friday. It has felt like a very long week. I got super organised and wrote a to-do list that evening. I also bought most of Lily's birthday presents, including a computer and a DS game. Sadly I'm yet to figure out what to get Chris for Valentine's Day and that is now less than a week away! I also began to look into self hosting my blog - something I've been wondering about for a while. I'm not really any closer and instead just ended up discussing an idea for another blog - a joint one with a friend.

Saturday and there was no rest for the wicked! I took two very excited girls, to meet two more very excited girls, when I picked up Rhiannon and her kids to go see sing-a-long Frozen. Sadly, other than the six of us, there was only six other people in the cinema. Although we were in the smallest cinema screen (9) we still rattled around a bit. Luckily no one seemed to care and everyone still sang along, but I felt like it was a shame and certainly lacking in atmosphere. It also didn't help that they forgot to dim the lights until about half way through "Do you want to build a Snowman?"

The kids seemed to enjoy it regardless, but I suppose it felt a bit frustrating for me that we'd paid £19.90 (for me and the two kids, so Rhiannon paid £19.90 too) to not really get the full experience. By 31st March the dvd will be available and the kids can sing-a-long for free, any time they want!

After the cinema, by mutual consent, we headed off to McDonalds. The first one was too busy to park in, so we headed for a different one. Even the car park there was full but luckily it had other places to park nearby and so we just parked and walked. The kids all seemed to love spending time together, insisting on walking holding hands, one continual link of people.

After dropping Rhiannon and her girls off home, I headed to my mum's to drop the kids off as she was having them overnight. Even nicer she was doing homework this weekend AND giving them both a bath. I finally headed home for about 3pm, tired and with a headache. Though I did try to grab a nap, I didn't really succeed and eventually just ended up reading. We had a games evening planned for 8pm that night and honestly I just wasn't really in the mood. Luckily there were plenty of people coming and so Nat and I just camped out in the lounge for a catch-up, letting everyone else play instead.

Playing Smash  Up
When Tom and Nat left at midnight, I headed to bed, even though people were still playing. I know Chris felt like he should come to bed too but I assured him that he should stay and finish the game. I lay in bed finishing off a 5:2 diet book I had started reading earlier that day, then got myself to sleep.

Even nicer, because mum had the kids overnight, Chris and I got a lay-in on Sunday morning. I think it was about 9.30am before we got up, which might not sound like much of a lay-in, but it was much appreciated! Chris and I sat downstairs in our PJs for a while, catching up on Casualty and Holby City (would you believe I've managed to catch up on about 30 episodes of Casualty in the last 3 weeks!). The girls arrived home at about midday, I popped to Aldi to do some shopping early afternoon and then for the rest of the afternoon I worked on my blog and cooked Sunday dinner.

We had pork, roast potatoes, yorkshire puddings, carrots, brocolli and leeks in sauce for dinner at around 6pm. At the girls request, we all sat at the dinning table and it was actually really nice to have a family meal. It wasn't long after that before both the girls headed to bed and I got a little bit more me time!

This coming week is my last one at work before half term and a week off. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to that time off but I also have an ever growing list of things to do! This week also includes a Valentine's dinner with the girls on Friday (Chris is working) and a couples Valentine's Murder Mystery on Saturday. I really fancy cooking some biscuits or maybe baking a cake this week too!

How has your week been?
