Hidden Gem - Sweet Tradition
So I went almost a whole year without posting about Hidden Gems and now I'm mentioning three in fairly quick succession. Today's Hidden Gem is a tiny little sweet shop, located again in Gainsborough. More specifically, located in Marshall's Yard. Sweet Tradition, is a sweet shop that sells both old fashioned and modern sweets. On top of that, they have a huge amount of America sweets too.
As you can see from the windows, the Sweet Tradition sells loads and loads of sweets in jars. These are sold by the traditional "quarter" or by 100g. These jar sweets make up the majority of the shop, though there are lots of other hidden gems.
It's actually very hard to take pictures in a shop without looking completely weird, or admitting you write a blog and want to take photos. As such, all these were taken sneakily. On top of these shelves, there are quite a lot filled with American sweets too. Unfortunately these are quite expensive, but no more so than any other British sweet shop selling American sweets. On our last visit to the sweet shop, the day before Mother's Day, I was naughty and treated myself to three bags of M&Ms.
Pretzel, Peanut Butter and Birthday Cake! They were amazing too. Sadly at £1.45 a bag, they aren't necessarily affordable. Luckily the American sweets are really the only expensive things in the shop, the rest of the sweets are just normal, reasonable prices. Even the American sweets prices fall in line with places like Meadowhall etc - I know because I checked last time we went (Chocolate covered pretzels were £3.99 a bag and M&Ms £1.45 just like here).
Anyway, as with all the other Hidden Gems I've mentioned, this is a great place to pop into and grab a few treats. The kids love it there and even adults can end up literally like "a kid in a candy store".
