Socialites Electric Cigarettes*

I was recently given the opportunity to review some e-cigarettes, from a company called Socialites. I personally gave up smoking around Christmas/New Year time, but my partner has been struggling to give up himself. I jumped at the chance, hoping it would help him (and in turn me, since I'm far more likely to stay given up, if he has too!).

Unbeknown to me, Chris had actually bought himself a disposable e-cigarette the same day that I agreed to review these e-cigarettes. Regardless though, he said he would give them a go.

The Socialites cigarettes arrived within a day or two of providing my address. They also arrived in a Menthol flavour, though I believe you can get them in a variety of different ones. We received a "Starter kit" which included:
1 x rechargeable battery 1 x USB charger 2 x Cartomizers (80 Cigarettes) 1 x Instruction card

All of the above mentioned, fit neatly into the e-cigarettes packet, which is the same size as a normal 20 cigarettes packet.

Each cartomizer (which is basically a screw-on cigarette butt) is the equivalent of 40 cigarettes, and you are given two to begin with. The longer part of the e-cigarette is the part you charge, plugging in simply to the USB charger, which then charges via any USB port (laptop etc.) These e-cigarettes are so so simply to use and understand, so you definitely shouldn't have a problem there.

Anyway, obviously with any decision to give up smoking, there needs to be a certain amount of willpower. I was pleased that Chris seemed to have this, this time - it made asking him to review these e-cigarettes much easier. I tried not to ask and nag too much though, I know how it can be when you're trying to give up smoking and someone mentions cigarettes all the time! However after a few days, Chris actually informed me that he had been 3 whole days without a proper cigarette, only this e-cigarette. Though he did then end up having one that day, he then went another 3 days before having a real cigarette again.

It's now some weeks later since he originally started the journey of giving up smoking. He's been using the socialites e-cigarette for the last 2-3 weeks. I'm pleased to say that as of today, its been 2 weeks since he had a real cigarette. Better yet, his use of the e-cigarettes is also getting few and far between. He's still on his first cartomizer and he has only had to recharge his battery once so far. Last week we went on holiday and he actually went 3-4 days without even having a puff of the e-cigarette!

For the purpose of this review, I have had a puff or two of the e-cigarette and I'm not going to lie, it isn't the same as having a real cigarette. However I actually think its better in lots of ways, plus it helps massively with the habits associated with smoking, as well as the nicotine withdrawal. Chris even made himself go outside each time he wanted a puff of the e-cigarette, meaning it was still an effort to do so and therefore deterring him further.

I'm so proud of Chris for getting this far down the line of quitting smoking and I'm incredibly grateful to Socialites for giving us this opportunity to review their product. Fingers crossed that the progress continues but as of this moment, I would definitely recommend this brand and this product to anyone wanting to give up smoking!
