Magic Belles CD Review*

A few weeks back I was invited to review a music cd, designed for girls aged 3-7. The cd is called Magic Belles and there are 7 tracks on the disc. These tracks are also downloadable on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon and Spotify.

The music is performed by characters called Magic Belles, who are 6 tiny jingly fairies, whose mission is to bring music and sparkle to girls' lives, and to celebrate life's special wonders. The website created to support these characters and the music - www.magicbelles.com - is a site where kids can play games, colour in and read stories.

My two daughters are aged 9 and 6, so really only one of them fits into this age group. However I explained to them both that we were going to listen to the cd a few times and then Mummy was going to blog about what we thought.

I want to be honest and say, that really I think age 3-7 is stretching it a little. My youngest daughter who is 6, wasn't really that interested HOWEVER I know that about a year or so ago she would have been. Perhaps this is different from child to child, but when Lily was about 4-5, she loved wearing her ballet tutu and dancing around to music exactly like this. Now, she can appreciate that its pretty sounding music, but she isn't really interested in it.

The Magic Belles website, has several examples of the songs on this disc and you should definitely check it out. From a parental point of view, the music is easy to listen to, good quality and has more of a pop element than a monotonous nursery rhyme sound. While listening to it, the main thing that occurred to me is that this music would make a good backing track to movies such as Barbie, My Little Pony, Winx etc. I don't know if that's really a compliment, but I hope it is as its very easy to just listen to and picture some sort of story unfolding in animation form on the screen. The website is also amazing! I was so impressed by the quality of the site, though again I will say I think it probably appeals to those under 6.

If you have little girls, especially aged 3-5, I would definitely have a look into Magic Belles. There is so much care and attention in both the music and the website/activities, its a great enterprise to support.
