So March, April and May, I took out a subscription to Birchbox - as part of my new found interest in Beauty (well my attempt at being interested!). At first I loved it, but then my interest fizzled a little, so I decided to cancel my subscription and try out Glossybox instead. My first box came last month and the fact I never got around to blogging about it, probably says a lot. However my second one arrived today... and its official, I'm not interested.
I can't really explain why... perhaps there is an element of brand snobbery? But I do know I wasn't anywhere near as interested in my Glossybox contents, as I was my Birchbox ones.
So here is what I got last month (May).
While it was beautifully presented, I just wasn't sold on any of the products - or the magazine that came with it. I mean, its great that you get so many full size products, but at the same time I suppose there was a part of me that was disappointed they were all brands I could buy in a high street shop and even brands I'd already bought.
However, with it being the Superdrug 50th Anniversary edition, I did wonder if that had effected things. So I vowed to stick in there, at least another month, just to see what I got. As I said before, my box arrived today and this was the contents of June's box.
While this one was a little more interesting (in my opinion) and still beautifully presented, it just didn't grab me. The nail varnish will be handy (though I do have a similar one), the hair stuff smells great but I'm a bugger for even bothering with my hair! I have an eye brush, I'm not a huge fan of sample sachets and though I've never heard of So Susan, I guess I'm interested to try this. Otherwise though, a bit of a bust.
As such, I've cancelled my subscription. I'm not even lasting it out for the three months I originally thought I would give it. I'm currently trying to decide if I move onto trying another Beauty Box, or if I save up my money! Any suggestions?
I've always been curious about these. Mind if I ask how much it is per month?
ReplyDeleteI have never subscribed to a beauty box, i tend just to look at reviews of beauty products on other blogs and then use my money for the positively reviewed stuff.

I subbed to glossybox and like you ended up giving it up I just didn't like most of the stuff I ended up with and thought it a much better use of my money to buy one quality new product a month then 5 things I won't necessarily use
